Do this first
- Turn the device off if it is still on.
- Do not charge it.
- Remove the case and any accessories.
- Keep the device upright where possible.
- Contact a repair specialist as soon as you can.
What not to do
- Do not plug it in to see if it still charges.
- Do not use a hairdryer or direct heat.
- Do not repeatedly press buttons to test it.
- Do not assume it is safe because it briefly turns on.
What a repair inspection looks for
A technician checks for liquid indicators, corrosion, battery issues, screen/display faults and charging damage. Cleaning and testing may be needed before it is clear whether parts are required.
Can water damaged phones always be fixed?
Not always. The result depends on the liquid, how long the device was powered, whether it was charged after exposure, and which internal areas were affected. The priority is often to save data first, then restore the device if practical.
